I got the most incredible @grensonshoes for Mother’s Day that feature a pattern by @persephonebooks & @cambridgeimprint. The story of their collaboration is fascinating, & each of the 3 companies embody soulful craftsmanship in their own art, fashion, literary, and design worlds. I’m smitten with the confluence of art across multiple media, so the moment I unwrapped my shoes, I knew I’d recreate the pattern in my medium: naturally-dyed pasta. I draped the pasta sheet atop a lasagne & I couldn’t resist wearing my shoes during that dinner even though we’re a shoes-off house. 📷by @wrightkitchen. I’m 2 weeks away from submitting the manuscript for my 1st book, which is why you haven’t heard from me as much lately. Man, they don’t tell you how hard it’s going to be when you sign up to ride this particular bull! But it’s the fun kind of hard, to keep up the rodeo analogy. In the meantime, I am looking through @wrightkitchen’s images from the book photoshoot & damn near crying, they’re THAT good. I had to share this behind-the-scenes glance, because it illustrates how magic happens when Brittany gets behind her lens & I get behind my pasta board. I miss her when she’s gone, but we get to be reunited next week to conjure up a final set of sorcery. If you ever find a friend like that- one who teases out your very highest potential- make them tacos, rub their feet, & keep them around as much as possible.
