What a hearty dish! Perfect for Sunday meals with family and friends… Add some chopped vegetables if you like or substitute potatoes with sweet potatoes or pumpkin.

Ingredients
600 g ground beef
250 g stale white bread
milk to soak bread
1 large onion, grated
150 g Kaseri cheese (or Kefalotyri or Pecornio Romano or Asiago), grated
1 tbsp dried thyme
2 tbsp mild mustard
salt, black pepper

For the potatoes
1 kg potatoes, in chunks
1 cup fresh orange juice
1 lemon, juiced
1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
1 tsp dried thyme
salt, black pepper

Method
Step 1
Soak bread in milk for 30 minutes until really soft. Remove crust and squeeze most of the liquid out (not completely).

Step 2
In a bowl knead ground beef with onion and soaked bread for 3 minutes. Add the rest of the ingredients and knead for another 5 minutes. Shape into meatballs.

Step 3
Preheat oven at 180οC/fan. In a bowl mix all potato ingredients and transfer in baking dish along with the meatballs. Add 1 cup of water, cover with lid or foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove lid or foil and bake for another 15 minutes until nicely colored. Serve warm with a green salad of your choice.
