Fried doughnuts, soft, delicious and crunchy! Dip in melted chocolate for an extra taste of heaven!

Serves: 8 Preparation time: 30 Cooks in: 20m Ready in: 50m

Ingredients
For the dough:
5 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup fresh orange juice
½ cup extra-virgin olive oil
½ tsp baking soda

For the filling:
1½ cup almonds blanched, finely ground
1 cup walnuts, finely ground
1 tbsp cinnamon
¼ cup sesame seeds, toasted
½ cup sugar

For frying and serving:
vegetable oil for frying
runny honey

Method
Step 1
For the dough: Whisk flour with oil in a bowl. Stir baking soda in orange juice and add to flour mix. Knead to elastic dough. If necessary, add a little more orange juice to reach appropriate consistency. Form a ball of dough, cover with foil and rest in the fridge for an hour.

Step 2
Cut dough in 8 pieces and roll out each piece in a rectangle, as thin as you can. Mix all ingredients for the filling. Top each dough with filling. Fold and roll to a cylinder. Bring two edges together, wet and seal.

Step 3
Into a medium sized pan pour enough vegetable oil and heat to high heat until it begins to bubble.

Step 4
Fry round doughnuts using a slotted spoon to turn them on all sides, until golden brown.

Step 5
Place doughnuts on kitchen paper to drain for 2 minutes and then arrange on a large platter. Drizzle with honey, sprinkle with a little extra cinnamon if you like or remaining filling and enjoy! Serve warm.
